WHAT ARE DENTAL IMPLANTS?

LASTING SOLUTIONS TO TOOTH LOSS

Dental implants are a common dental procedure in which missing teeth are replaced without affecting neighboring teeth.  Dental implants provide a lasting solution that restore the ability to chew, speak, and have a natural looking smile.

FAQ: Dental Implants

Dental implants are placed directly into jaw bone which allows them to support full tooth replacements.  Additionally, dental implants can be implemented to support a group of replacement teeth, also called a bridge.

Dental implants look and feel so natural you will may likely forget you even have one.  Dental implants quickly restore a sense of confidence and allow your teeth to function as new.

Dental implants are a good option for those individuals who maintain good overall oral health and have lost a tooth due to trauma, periodontal disease, or decay.

The many benefits of dental implants include:

  • A permanent solution to tooth loss
  • Improved chewing and speaking
  • Improved facial appearance
  • Natural function and aesthetics
  • The preservation of neighboring tooth structure
  • Prevention of bone loss
  • Overall strength and sturdiness of replacement solution

Dr. Stelmach will perform a comprehensive evaluation and examination in which your medical and dental histories, x-rays, and other records such as dental impressions will be collected.  One major determinant of dental implant success is the degree of underlying bone to the site of the planned implant.  To determine whether there are adequate bone levels at this site, computed tomography scans are often required.  These scans also help in determining the vicinity of other important anatomical landmarks that may affect the progress of the surgery.
